Key Responsibilities

As a Wildland Firefighter (Aviation) (Seat Base Assistant) your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Oversees daily airbase activities supporting wildland fire aviation, including flight coordination, airtanker rotations, dispatch logistics, and ensuring safe, efficient, policy-compliant aviation operations. Applies multi-agency aviation policies and environmental regulations; administers aviation and retardant contracts, ensuring contractor compliance.

Manages aircraft and crew logistical needs, base supplies, equipment maintenance, and facility upkeep. Implements aviation safety practices, conducts daily briefings, delivers training, and maintains required aviation records, invoices, cost reports, retardant usage data, and operational plans.

Leads and trains aviation firefighting personnel, directs crew activities during wildland fire operations, ensures safe work practices, maintains accountability, and reports performance and operational status to leadership.
