This is position located in the Dental Service at the Birmingham VA Health Care System. The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative management and oversight to programs related to the service line.
The Administrative Officer will perform administrative, human resources management, program analysis, office support, and some budgetary functions. Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
Duties include, but are not limited to: Serves as an Administrative Officer within Dental Services providing administrative advisement to the executive management within the service line. Performs administration, human resources management, program analysis, office support and some budgetary program functions.
Acting as COR (Contracting Officer Representative) for procurements, and/or maintaining procurement and contracting records, includes other contracting/procurement duties and responsibilities. Provides administrative advisement to the executive management within the service line for contract related matters. Performs equipment management and oversight to include market research, ordering, purchasing, and inventory management.
Performs HR recruitment process such as initiating request for recruitment, interviewing and selecting employees, maintaining accurate position descriptions. Assist staff with planning, organizing, and performing analysis of data to aid in achieving program goals.
The Incumbent will advise management officials, supervisors, and employees on the interpretation and application of a variety of human resources policies, practices, and procedures including staffing, classification, employee relations, benefits, and related areas. Develops and implements tracking tools and spreadsheets which improves productivity and provides status at a glance on a myriad of programs.
Applies new policies, provides advice on requirements, maintains administrative systems, and prepares administrative paperwork, and generates reports for the director. Participates with managers in reviewing office needs, plans, and goals to develop financial data and justification for review and approval. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday. 7:30am - 4:00pm.
