Job Summary

You will serve as a Administrative Officer in Blue Ridge Parkway.

Key Responsibilities

Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: This position serves as the Division Chief of Administration and Business Management for the Blue Ridge Parkway.

The incumbent manages an interdisciplinary, complex organization through the management of subordinate supervisory staff, through coordination and management of a broad range of business services, which include but are not limited to: financial management, asset and property management, technology management, concessions management, human resources and contracting support, agreements management and project support for field-based park operations and investments across 469 miles in two states and 29 counties, serving over 16 million visitors per year.

The Chief of Administration serves as a critical member of the park's executive leadership team and has responsibility to provide expert-level advice and guidance to park leadership on a wide range of financial and business management matters and functions for the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, other Division Chiefs, as well as park staff throughout the Parkway and in surrounding, smaller NPS units.

Directs the work of subordinate supervisory and non-supervisory staff to deliver direct and indirect administrative services in support of the park mission. The Chief plans, analyzes, coordinates and monitors the formulation and execution of the park's operating and project delivery budgets, to include strategic planning and workforce development.

Manages parkwide internal controls, procedures, operating processes and program goals in support of park priorities as identified by the leadership team and the park Superintendent. Incumbent must lead and coordinate park functions according to a complex set of laws, regulations and policies, and must recommend and implement creative solutions for which there may be few precedents and which have parkwide, regional and national impacts.

The incumbent is the authoritative source of administrative and business operations and policy guidance within the park, as they related to a program of operations and maintenance that impact natural and cultural resources, lands, federal facilities, and gateway communities- and are impacted by changing physical and socioeconomic environments and political pressures.

Incumbent assesses the effectiveness of park operations and functions, develops new programs to improve effectiveness and efficiencies, and creatively resolves unique and high-stakes challenges with consideration of administrative and agency priorities, park mission goals, and leader's intent for mission success.
