Job Summary

The Supervisory Administrative Officer (AO) for Nursing Operations oversees the administrative functions including managing the Nursing Operations budget. The AO applies analytical and evaluative skills and specialized principles and practices of management to advise, collaborate, and carry out the responsibilities of the position.

This AO provides direct support to the Chief Nurse of Nursing Operations Service, in assuring that the service level resources are efficiently being managed.

Key Responsibilities

Major duties and responsibilities include: Provides leadership and program coordination in the development, implementation, evaluation, interpretation, revision, and necessary corrective action of all applicable administrative policies, functions, activities, operations, and programs.

Develops, plans, schedules new methods of operations that require identification of short term and long-term objectives and goals based on an understanding of the program, strategic priorities, and related initiatives within the organization. Provides technical and administrative supervision to a unit time and leave clerk. Oversees daily operations of the staff, plans work to be accomplished, ensures that agency policies are being followed.

Hears and resolves minor complaints from employees, refers group grievances and more serious unresolved complaints to the Service Chief. Provides the assignments, projects, problems to be solved and actionable events, ensure deadlines and milestones for completion of such items can be met. Records and organizes documents relating to expenditures to provide accurate and timely data and immediate visibility concerning availability of funds.

Performs program cost analyses or other cost analyses of projects, or performance of cost benefit or economic evaluations of programs. Evaluates, processes, and makes recommendations for effective organizational changes to support process improvement plans and goals for the entire service. Coordinates all administrative and financial functions necessary to assure the smooth and efficient functioning of the Service.

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4 pm Telework: Ad-hoc Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Position Description/PD#: Administrative Officer/PD112270 Preferred Experience: Human Resource Management, acquisition contracts, equipment management, compliance/oversight, process improvement, facility management oversight.

You will be rated on the following competencies for this position: effective communication, progressive leadership experience, knowledge and skills in policy development, compliance and oversight.
