Job Summary

This position is located in Region 6, Mitigation Division The ideal candidate for this position will have experience monitoring multiple projects from initiation to completion and knowledge of risk assessment activities in support of risk reduction efforts. In addition, the incumbent will have knowledge of current technology use in Geographic Information Systems, Flood Modeling and experience in project management.

Key Responsibilities

What will I do in this position if hired? In this position, you will be operating as a project leader and point of coordination for FEMA Resilience program policy development and implementation pertaining to multi-hazards risk assessments. Typical assignments include: Operating as a point of contact for the planning, programming, budgeting, and execution of NHRAP program activities.

Providing subject matter expertise on delivery of risk assessment activities in support of risk reduction and resilience priorities. Functioning as a spokesperson on risk assessment activities for conferences, meetings, workgroups, media, and congressional inquiries. Providing analytical and advisory expertise for data management, to including various types of geo-spatial data, such as LiDAR, DEMs, Imagery, and Geodatabases.

Functioning as a liaison to SLTTs and OFAs for the integration and coordination of risk assessment activities. What else do I need to know? At FEMA, our mission is to help people before, during and after disasters, and every employee at FEMA has a role in emergency management. Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites.

All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description.

Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
