This position is located in Region Six, Mitigation Division. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience interpreting and processing NFIP data to identify areas of flood risk or impact and presenting data to guide operations before and after natural hazard impacts. The incumbent will also have experience utilizing NFIP data and reporting systems and geospatial information systems.
What will I do in this position if hired? In this position, you will be providing and promoting floodplain management activities in relation to emergency management directives, regulations, policies, laws, standards, and guidance (e.g., National Security Strategy, Presidential Policy Directives, Homeland Security Presidential.
Typical assignments include: Processing and delivering NFIP data to inform Floodplain Management and Insurance operations in before, during, and after disasters. Preparing and delivering situational updates to senior leadership regarding flood event activities, including response coordination, emerging impacts, resource needs, and key operational developments.
Serving as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for data-related activities involving internal and external partners. Advising internal and external partners on appropriate data-sharing practices, ensuring information is shared in accordance with applicable policies, agreements, and privacy requirements to protect PII.
Providing technical assistance to communities to implement their post-disaster SI/SD mission including training on administrative procedures and Substantial Damage Estimator (SDE) use. Monitoring, documenting, and providing technical assistance to communities to support their post-disaster permitting and inspection processes including outreach on improving building practices and stronger building codes.
