This position will reside within the Office of Advanced Aviation Technologies (AAT), Mission Support Division (AAT-100), Compliance and Planning Branch (AAT-120). AAT-120 is responsible for managing and implementing key policy and compliance initiatives within the AAT organization.
Serves as Branch Manager directing major programs and organizational components through a staff of highly professional and specialized employees. lntegrates work of multiple organizations to meet strategic goals of AAT and the FAA and directs the work of subordinate employees for multiple organizational projects and programs across multiple functions and/or disciplines. Work includes complex projects/programs, based on the objectives of the Division and AAT, as a whole.
Managerial duties typically affect managers and employees for more than one organizational unit, and include: oversight of records management and Freedom of Information Act functions, and managing and coordinating all activities related to strategic planning; business planning; oversight of Office of lnspector General and Government Accountability Office activities; change management initiatives; communicating the organization's vision and objectives; setting priorities; assigning tasks and responsibilities; monitoring and evaluating performance of organizational units, managers and employees; coaching and developing staff and organizational capabilities; approving leave; and taking or approving corrective/disciplinary actions as appropriate.
Supports the Division Director and the Deputy Director in establishing, maintaining, and executing overall strategic vision and fulfilling the Division's mission.
Provides strategic leadership to the Branch and supports the execution of daily operations, including: Align Branch resources, activities, and stakeholders with AAT objectives; develop Branch personnel and resources consistent with AAT's future needs; foster a work environment and culture that emphasizes employee engagement, risk-based decision-making, innovation, collaboration, communication, accountability, diversity and inclusion throughout the Branch.
Ensures incorporation of the Branch's collective knowledge and experience to division planning, goal setting and management. Oversees execution of overall strategic vision and direction set for the Branch to ensure effective and efficient attainment of organizational goals. Defines and assigns accountability for key internal performance objectives.
Engages branch-level support personnel in monitoring Branch performance relative to key performance indicators and making adjustments necessary to achieve key performance objectives. Engages managers in documenting, refining, and assuring compliance with processes governing Branch activities. Monitors Branch funds. Works with management team to identify resource needs and advocates for resources on behalf of the Branch.
Monitors organizational health and adjusts practices across the Branch to encourage diversity and inclusion, communication, collaboration, and innovation in the resolution of issues. Guides Branch staff in empowering employees and holding them accountable to AATs vision, focus areas, and initiatives. Establishes and maintains effective communications and demonstrates a high level of service to all organizational elements of AAT as well as other offices throughout the agency.
Partners with other AAT Divisions/Branches, the aviation industry, other civil aviation authorities, government agencies, and union representatives to accomplish work. Represents or delegates accountability for representing FAA at aviation events, industry conferences and other civil aviation authority), meetings on topics pertinent to the Branch. Monitors and evaluates performance. Executes personnel actions and/or corrective/disciplinary actions.
Work to prepare employees for future opportunities across the division, with a focus on continuity of operations and long term organizational success. Monitors organizational health and regularly seeks input and feedback from employees. Establishes and enhances practices to encourage diversity and inclusion, communication, collaboration, and innovation in the resolution of issues.
