You will serve as a Masonry Worker. This position is located within the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Intermountain, Division of Research & Ruins Stab, MESA VERDE NATIONAL PARK, COLORADO. Government housing may be available.
Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Assist in the maintenance, repair, and restoration of structures and surfaces constructed of stone and mortar. Assist higher-graded employees in the preparation of test mixes and prepare amended and unamended mortars according to specifications. With minimal direct supervision, remove damaged portions of walls, partitions, or other similar structures in preparation for repair.
Document structures through photographs, sketches, forms and narratives, to enable original configurations to be reestablished. Work closely with a staff archeologist to capture pertinent information about the structures and features. Cap, reset, respell, grout, and reinforce walls with supervision, so that the repaired portion closely matches the original and undamaged portions of the structure. Load, unload, and haul cement, soil, stone, tools, and equipment.
Stack and handle stone building materials and supplies to job site. Dig, rake, and backfill excavations, as well as shovel concrete and mortar and cut brush. Mix mortar to match existing mortar and finish mortar joints so that the repaired portion matches the undamaged portion of the structure.
Work from clearly described oral and written instructions as well as building plans, blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, maintenance and repair manuals and related codes (e.g., Building Code Requirements for Mason Structures, National Fire Protection Life Safety Code). May perform other trades-related work such as painting, carpentry, electrical, and other similar work on a limited, as needed basis. This a Career-Seasonal appointment.
Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as permanent appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work for approximately 7 months in pay status, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year.
There is no substitution of education for experience for Federal Wage System (FWS) positions.

The posted pay range is $27.13 – $31.61/hr.
