Job Summary

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Human Resources Management, National Programs Division Medical and Fitness Branch, located in Washington, D.C. Additional selections may be made beyond the total number of vacancies specified using this vacancy announcement.

Further selections may also be made for additional organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

Key Responsibilities

This position starts at a salary of $143,913.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $187,093.00 (GS-14, Step 10) with promotion potential to $187,093.00 (GS-14 Step 10). Major duties of this position include: Directing the Medical and Fitness Branch by managing subordinate supervisors and specialists; exercising delegated personnel management authorities for selection, performance evaluation, training, awards, discipline, and grievance resolution to maintain a high-performing workforce.

Planning, organizing, coordinating, and implementing agency-wide medical and fitness programs, providing expert guidance and interpretation of HR policies and regulations, and ensuring compliance with federal requirements to support the employment and retention of agency employees.

Reviewing and recommending actions on programming and resource allocation requests, monitoring program accomplishments and performance metrics, conducting program reviews and audits, and advising leadership on program effectiveness and areas requiring corrective action.
