The duties of the Supervisory Prosthetic Representative are to administer, supervise, or perform work concerned with rendering prosthetic and sensory aids services to disabled patients. This work requires the application and interpretation of laws concerning benefits available to disabled patients and a specialized knowledge of the medical and psychological problems directly related to the use of prosthetic devices.
The Supervisory Prosthetic Representative completes a variety of supervisory and non-supervisory prosthetic and sensory aids assignments, projects, and activities independently to meet the program's long- and short-term goals.
Major duties include but are not limited to: Planning, developing, and directing a Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Program at the local level Advising clinicians on device selection, prescription, and acquisition; interpreting prescriptions Authorizing purchase, fabrication or repair of devices Liaising with manufacturers and dealers Participating in research projects Providing technical advice to other facilities Communicating effectively Coordinating workflow and assignments Working independently to set priorities, meet deadlines, analyze problems, and implement solutions Applying leadership and managerial techniques Managing healthcare programs for medical equipment, rehabilitation, assistive devices, and orthotics/prosthetics.
