Job Summary

Social Work Supervisor, locally titled Caregiver Support Program (CSP) Supervisor, which provides a state-of-the-art continuum of services, education and resources to caregivers of Veterans with complex needs. The incumbent oversees service delivery and coordination of care activities for family caregivers who provide personal care services to eligible Veterans regardless of period of service.

The incumbent develops and facilitates CSP-program focused direction, orientation, coaching, in-service training, staff development, and continuing education programs for VA facility staff and the community. The incumbent develops and implements a plan for outreach to Veterans and Veteran caregivers who may benefit from the CSP program services (but who do not presently use VA for their health care needs).

The incumbent directly supervises the VA HCS Caregiver Support Coordinator(s) (CSC) and, when applicable, Program Support Assistant (PSA) and other interprofessional staff assigned to Caregiver Support Program as outlined in VHA Directive 11152(1), Caregiver Support Program.

The incumbent coordinates program implementation with multiple clinical services across all campus locations within the VA facility, including but not limited to: nursing; physical, occupational, and speech therapists; mental health and primary care providers. The incumbent may provide clinical interventions to the Veteran and caregiver populations served by the programs.

The incumbent administers information and analytical systems to evaluate and enhance the quality of service provided to caregivers, families and Veterans. Develops and implements information systems to track service activities including visits, referrals, caregiver demographics, equipment utilization and caregiver and Veteran satisfaction. Develops implements and evaluates clinical guidelines and protocols to establish appropriate utilization of services.

The incumbent is responsible for monitoring performance measures at the local, VISN, and Central Office levels; providing responses to congressional inquiries; and briefings to providers, VA leadership, community organizations and other internal and external stakeholders. The incumbent provides supervisory and administrative coverage for the Caregiver Support Program Manager as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday Recruitment/Relocation Incentives (Sign-on Bonus): Not authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not authorized Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).

Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year). Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.

Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
