The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as the installation's Family Advocacy Officer (FAO) directly supervising a staff consisting of social worker(s) and may also include a registered nurse and support personnel.
Carries out program management responsibility for the installation Family Advocacy Program (FAP), ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and meeting customer needs. Represents FAP to (or on behalf of) the installation, group, squadron leadership through multiple installation and functional area organizations. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management. Carries full professional responsibility for assigned cases presenting a wide range of psychosocial and environmental problems from prevention, intervention, and treatment through case closure and/or transfer. Works to achieve and support quality improvement in all products and services.
