The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as Exercise Planner and/or Workgroup Lead for Homeland Defense and Defense Support of Civil Authorities exercises, responsible for planning and executing Tier 1 and Tier 2 Joint and Combined exercises to train NORAD and USNORTHCOM staff in their homeland defense and civil support missions.
Responsible for the development of CCMD-level policy for all aspects of VIGILANT SHIELD, VITAL ARCHER, ARDENT SENTRY, and/or NUWAIX. Contributes to the development of policy by scheduling, resourcing, planning, designing, developing and executing exercises for NORAD and USNORTHCOM.
Establishes, maintains, and executes the exercise planning schedule for the Commands' Tier 1 and Tier 2, JEP-designated exercises and all linked and associated exercises, to include scheduling all conferences, meetings, in-progress reviews, and secure video teleconferences. Coordinates with NORAD and USNORTHCOM senior staff, and various levels of other participating external agencies to schedule and organize numerous exercise events.
As a NORAD and USNORTHCOM Domain Exercise Controller of the Joint Exercise Control Group (JECG), acts as a key domain exercise observer/controller, managing and directing, up to 200, co-located and geographically dispersed binational personnel during NORAD and USNORTHCOM exercises and other supported Joint and Combined exercises.
Controls exercise activities and vignette/scenario injects, to include de-confliction; ensures training objectives are met, provides guidance to participants, and briefs the Director, Joint Training and Exercises, Chief, Joint Exercise Division and the Senior JECG Director on domain specific status of the exercise.
