Job Summary

You will serve as a Administrative Officer with National Park Service. You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work. You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 2-5 nights per month on occasional basis for training. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.

Key Responsibilities

This position manages the complex administrative and business operations for Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and Curecanti National Recreation Area. The Administrative Officer performs the full range of administrative functions in support of the park's core functions and services as the principal advisor and management consultant to the Superintendent and Leadership team.

The incumbent supports the park divisional operations by performing work or directs work within the following areas: Provides accurate and reliable advice on a wide range of administrative functions as these apply to the park, either as personal advisory service to the Superintendent and Division Chiefs or by directing (or obtaining services of) specialists, technicians and clerical support positions in delivering services to management and employees of the park.Initiates business and administrative studies on the basis of his/her own independent judgment of need, to assess unusual conditions that impact the effectiveness of park operations, develop new programs, improve effectiveness, resolves complex problems, and other management actions that impact the park's mission.

Responsible for keeping the park's revenues and spending in balance through authoritative advice and supervision of the staff of the Administration/Business Office dedicated to budget and financial management of day-to-day basis. Oversees collection of donations, concession, park entry, user fees, and other types of fees. Directs or coordinates unique and/or critical management planning activities to include complex and highly sensitive tasks and projects.

Serves as the primary liaison with Human Resources, coordinating the identification and communication of needs and receipt of HR services. Responsible for acquiring all goods and services the park requires to accomplish it mission and programs.

Responsible for providing information technology, connectivity, communications (local, long distance, cellular and/or satellite telephone, facsimile) and automation advice in support of programs for the park and for directing the work of staff assigned to provide technical support to the park.
