Job Summary

This position is located in FEMA's Region 10 National Preparedness Division, Planning & Assessments Branch in Bothell, WA. The ideal candidate should demonstrate skills in stakeholder communication, data collection and analysis, process improvement, and the ability to prepare professional products for senior leadership that inform decision making based on gathered quantitative and qualitative data.

Key Responsibilities

What will I do in this position if hired? In this position, you will serve as a Continuous Improvement Program Manager for Region Ten National Preparedness Division, Planning & Assessments Branch. Typical assignments include: Serving as program manager for the region conducting collection of lessons learned from exercises and real world disasters for the region in partnership with other team members.

Supporting the implementation of the National Preparedness Goal by conducting complex preparedness data analysis to inform priorities and decision-making processes as it relates to operational readiness and preparedness within the region.

Supporting the region in identifying critical gaps and shortfalls for corrective action and best practices for implementation to continuously improve readiness, response, and recovery operations.- Preparing technical reports, briefings, policies, and recommendations for leadership and stakeholders.

Performing as a spokesperson or representative of the region at conferences, meetings, committees and working groups that propose, defend and/or criticize agency initiatives to promote preparedness actions and improve national preparedness. Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description.

Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions. Promotion Potential: Future promotions will be dependent on your ability to perform the duties at a higher level, the continuing need for an employee assigned to the higher level, and administrative approval.
