Job Summary

This position is located in the EOC of the assigned state and managed by the Region 6, Response Division.

The ideal candidate for this position will have experience serving as a senior liaison and will have knowledge of both FEMA response operations and the emergency management organization and structure of the supported state; and able to work successfully in the assigned state emergency operations center facility as a member of the Response Division's FEMA Integration Team (FIT).

Key Responsibilities

What will I do in this position if hired? In this position, you will be serving as a member of the Response Division FEMA Integration Team (Response FIT) to the assigned state emergency operation center supporting the integration and coordination of FEMA Region 6 response operations, logistics, planning, and other preparedness/readiness efforts.

Typical assignments include: Operating as the lead state liaison between the Region 6 Watch/RRCC and the state emergency operations center (when deployed) for sharing priorities, objectives, concerns, and situational awareness; may participate as a member of on-site teams in the initial response period of an emergency event, exercises, and after-action reviews.

Preparing senior-level reports and briefings which support the sharing of situational awareness and provides leadership with information needed to make informed decisions; represents FEMA Region 6 Response at state and federal meetings and conferences providing oral briefs when requested.

Utilizing emergency management and related directives, policies, regulations, procedures, and methods; and collaborating and fostering relationships between FEMA Region 6 whole community response partners. Operating independently in coordination with FIT members from other divisions; supporting others in their efforts to improve state preparedness and interagency coordination. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description.

Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
