Job Summary

This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General, Office of Investigations. Resumes must be no more than 2-pages in length. Duty location will be at a current OIG Regional or Field Office upon selection. The salary for this position will be adjusted based on the duty location.

Key Responsibilities

Duties for the Supervisory Criminal Investigator, GS-1811-15 for the Office of Investigations, includes but not limited to: Serves as liaison with Federal prosecutive and investigative offices for special investigations of highly complex sensitive, multijurisdictional nature with high programmatic and/or national impact, and cases which may involve key executive officials of this and/or other Departments and in state, county, or local governments.

Managing a specialized criminal investigative organization consisting of federal criminal investigators, non-criminal investigators, and related technical and administrative staff. Maintains coordination with high level Departmental program officials and with officials in other Departments to obtain information and promote the OIG mission.

Briefs the AIGI regularly to keep the Executive appraised of program activities which present serious problems, or which are of special concern and would draw high interest of key officials, outside organizations and the attention of the media. Planning and directing in-depth reviews and evaluations of program activity.

Identifies areas needing improvement, and the techniques, and accomplishments of the staff which can serve as a basis for recommendations for the inclusion or revision of material of the Office of Investigations Policy and Procedures Manual (OIPPM). Manages the reporting of investigative cases and other activities necessary to maximize the effective use of reported information in the development of techniques to be applied in the exchange of investigation information.
