Webster Parish is a county of Louisiana with 35,820 residents. Its economy produced $1,561 million in 2024 (ranked #35 of 64 counties) and had 11,054 jobs with an average annual pay of $49,290 (#36 for pay). The unemployment rate was 4.5% in 2026M09. It is part of the Minden, LA micropolitan area (central county).
Webster Parish produced about $1,561 million of goods and services in 2024, which is 0.5% of the combined output of the 64 counties of Louisiana that BEA reports (about 0.8% of the state's population lives here), and ranks it 35th of 64 on that measure. Per resident that is $43,593, 39% below the state average; the average for all counties of the state taken together is $71,374. In current dollars output grew 3.4% from 2023 to 2024, before adjusting for inflation.
BLS counts 11,054 jobs located in Webster Parish on average in 2024, spread over 995 employer sites (about 11 jobs per site). That is 0.31 jobs for every resident, close to the 0.31 of the typical county in Louisiana, which tells you whether the county is a place people mostly commute to for work or a place they commute from. The average annual pay per job was $49,290, 19% below the average of all counties in the state ($49,290 against $60,637). Average pay is total wages divided by jobs, so it is pulled up by high earners and counts part-time jobs as whole jobs; it is not the pay of a typical worker. The number of jobs fell 1.5% from 2023 to 2024.
The three largest private industries are retail trade (26.9% of private jobs, $30,593 a year on average), manufacturing (20.4% of private jobs, $75,902 a year on average), accommodation and food services (11.6% of private jobs, $18,459 a year on average). Together they hold 58.8% of private-sector jobs. Among industries with at least 3% of jobs, the best paying is mining, oil and gas at $86,387 a year, followed by wholesale trade ($85,867). The county is specialised in several industries: retail trade (1.6 times the US share, 1,799 jobs); manufacturing (1.5 times the US share, 1,365 jobs). A location quotient above 1 means an industry employs a larger share of workers here than in the whole country, so these are the industries where local employers compete hardest for skills. Several of the biggest employers pay well below the county average: retail trade ($30,593), accommodation and food services ($18,459). Jobs there are plentiful but the pay is lower than the headline average suggests.
In 2026M09 the unemployment rate in Webster Parish was 4.5%, 18% above the average of the state's counties (4.5% against 3.8%). The labour force (people working or looking for work) numbered 13,362. Over the last 12 months it ranged from 4.4% (2026M08) to 5.6% (2026M06); the latest month is preliminary and BLS revises it. These county rates are not seasonally adjusted, so compare the same month across years.
The median household income was $41,182 (ACS 2020–2024), 32% below the state median ($41,182 against $60,756). The guide covers 1 city with this as the main county: Minden. Open any of them for rent, home values, commuting and climate.
